SOLA Programme
With the continuing loss of crop protection products
as a result of the UK and EU pesticides reviews, the
HDC Specific Off-Label Approval (SOLA) programme is vital
to ensure UK growers have the essential crop protection
products they need to remain competitive.
The HDC SOLA programme is needed to:
• |
Support approvals that are no longer supported
by the manufacturer. |
• |
Support approvals on crops no longer covered
due to changes to the Long Term Arrangements for
Extension of Use. |
• |
Support approvals identified as new opportunities
by the industry and HDC-funded research. |
Since the HDC SOLA programme was set up in 1992, it has successfully obtained thousands of SOLAs for a range of crops and pesticide products for the benefit of British growers.
The HDC will formally request SOLAs on behalf of the
industry, where the need for a product has been identified
by a grower or grower group. This can be done using the
SOLA request form.
Where to find more information
HDC members can receive email notification of new SOLAs – notifications
are also published in HDC News and on the HDC weekly
email. Sign up for this service
Further information about
Pesticide Approvals can be found on the Pesticide Safety
Directorate website (www.pesticides.gov.uk)
where you can also search the database of On-Label and
SOLA approvals.
SOLA Request Form
This SOLA request form should be completed with full
details of the required product, pest, weed and/or
disease and returned to hdc@hdc.org.uk
HDC will then discuss the potential to obtain a SOLA
with the manufacturers and Pesticides Safety Directorate,
and where it is considered suitable a SOLA application
will be submitted.
Where residues data is required to support such a use,
this will be progressed by the relevant HDC Crop Panel.
Feedback on progress of your SOLA request will be provided
within 3 months of receipt by the HDC.
