Pesticide Gap Analysis
A key element in developing our SOLA programme over the
next few years is the ‘Pesticide Gap Analysis’.
Working with the Central Science Laboratory, the Crop Protection
Matrix TM was developed as a tool to highlight where problems
may occur due to the loss of active ingredients or products,
including gaps or increased risk of resistance. Using the
Crop Protection Matrix TM (within the CSL Liaison pesticide
database), losses of pesticide approvals leading to gaps
for the industry have been identified for a broad range
of edible and ornamental crops.
The results of the Pesticide Gap Analysis for both edible
and ornamental crops, are available as summaries of the
critical gaps which require urgent attention, and also
as more detailed tables indicating the level of importance
(gap status) for each pest, weed or disease on each crop.

Crop Protection Matrix on Liaison
HDC Members are entitled to access the useful 'Crop Protection
Matrix' feature within the CSL Liaison pesticide database.
The Crop Protection Matrix provides, for each crop, a matrix
of all the targets (weeds, pests or diseases) listed as
controlled by each active substance approved for that crop.
Levy Members who are current Liaison subscribers can
access the Matrix free simply by contacting Miles
Thomas at CSL quoting their HDC levy number.
Liaison
Staff at the Central Science Laboratory have set up an
extensive crop protection database called 'Liaison'.
The Liaison pesticide database:
• |
Delivers up-to-date UK pesticide approval details,
within a flexible product and crop search, including
information on when uses will expire. |
• |
Identifies all products recommended to control
your crop problems, linked to images of pests, weeds,
and diseases. |
• |
Provides links to detailed label recommendations,
including tank-mix and precaution data. |
• |
Contains a comprehensive and accessible index
of Specific Off-Label Approvals (SOLA's). |
• |
Provides easily searchable information on Maximum
Residue Levels in food, including proposed changes
resulting from UK and EC legislation. |
